Yesterday morning, Sam and I went to a Coffee Hour (Goncourt) which is a monthly coffee group sponsored by the American Church of Paris... I went to my very first one LAST June, so this was like an anniversary one for me... Important 'cuz at the June '07 coffee group I met a very nice group of ladies and we all became fast friends in just one hour of meeting each other.. It was the first time here in France for me that I such a large group of American Expats (though there were other nationalities, as well so I should say- Anglophone expats) all in one sitting! We are still good friends to this day, and quite a few of us do things together during the week like movies in VO, coffee, lunch, walks, shopping, etc. It's really a great group of people - women who've been here for a many years, a few years, or others who have "just arrived." It's a rather eclectic group of ladies of all ages. Anyhow... I had a great time chatting with my friends and catching up... meeting a few new faces, too... I met a Canadian gal who lived in San Diego (and Washington D.C.) for some years... It was fun to talk about the familiar places we knew... etc.
And, the best part, aside from friends and LOTS of breakfast goodies/coffee was my friend Sibel Pinto's, History of Turkish Cuisine presentation. She gave an interesting talk about all of the yummy and delicious Turkish foods and how they came about. It was all so interesting and it made my mouth water... I have ALWAYS wanted to visit Turkey... I think this calls for summer trip... Anyone interested???
Here are some pictures of Sibel and the dishes she made for us to taste. My favorite was the pastry one with the cheese inside and black sesame seeds on top! Sibel is a caterer and is available for parties and events... Here's her contact info, for those of you who would like to try some DELISH-OUS Turkish dishes and desserts-- The Colors of the Mediterranean
