Marseille sous la neige! Jan 7, 2009
Not only does it NOT snow very often in the Paris region, but more rarely does it snow in the south of France, which is known for it's hot weather, nice beaches, and palm trees. So, imagine the surprise of the southerners in Marseille when they got an overload of snow in their region!!! It closed down the auto routes for more than 24 hours, and people had to stay put in their cars overnight with the temperature below freezing outside! Meanwhile, those NOT trapped in their cars managed to find typical winter (snow) activities like building snowmen on the beach and going snowboarding on the hills. Crazy!!
